During the filming of “The Greatest,” Lloyd invited Muhammad and a few others to his home on Saltair Avenue in Brentwood, California for a meal of home cooked Louisiana cuisine which was a favorite of Ali’s and enjoyed by all in attendance; rave reviews still echoed for days.
This favorite picture hung on Lloyd’s wall for years and still hangs on our family wall today; it says volumes about the heart of Ali. It is a posed picture taken just for fun, but for the heavyweight champion of the world to even consent to the pretension was a kind and priceless gift to Lloyd. Lloyd, denied the dream of wrestling at age 16 because of his race, suffered a severe disappointment as a teenager. The pain of that restriction lifted that day. Thank you, Muhammad.
